With the flood of flashy RGB enabled memory on the market that can hit speeds faster than most CPU’s, it’s easy to forget that most of the systems out there aren’t able to overclock and wouldn’t be able to take advantage of those speeds, even if you wanted to pay the significant premium to own them. Does this mean you can’t have great performance and good looks? Not at all. Packaging & A Closer Look

Patriot’s Signature Line Premium comes in a clear clamshell style package with a picture of the kit on the front and the specs in the upper right corner.

You can see the actual modules through the back.

When you open up the packaging you get some links to patriot’s website, support contact information and some warranty info.

The Signature Line Premium modules themselves are a black PCB covered with a solid black heat spreader.

Both sides have the Patriot Logo on one end, and one side has a black information sticker on it.

The modules are standard height so cooler clearance shouldn’t be an issue, and are also very thin so you’ll get a little airflow even with all slots full.

The modules have some fins along the top.

CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system:

• Processor name and number, codename, process, package, cache levels.
• Mainboard and chipset.
• Memory type, size, timings, and module specifications (SPD).
• Real-time measurement of each core’s internal frequency, memory frequency.

Our two sticks of Patriot Signature Line Premium memory run at their rated 2666MHz (effective) speed at 19-19-19-43 timings in dual-channel mode.

As these modules are not designed for overclocking, we are running at JEDEC standard speeds and timings, XMP profiles are not available.

AIDA64 Engineer Edition

“AIDA64 Engineer has a hardware detection engine unrivaled in its class. It provides detailed information about installed software and offers diagnostic functions and support for overclocking. As it is monitoring sensors in real-time, it can gather accurate voltage, temperature and fan speed readings, while its diagnostic functions help detect and prevent hardware issues. It also offers a couple of benchmarks for measuring the performance of individual hardware components or the whole system. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows editions, including Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.”

AIDA64 really responds to faster speeds from overclocked kits, but Patriot’s Signature Line Premium slots in here right where it should.

This isn’t ultra-low latency overclocked gaming memory so it looks a little higher in comparison, but 61 ns really isn’t terrible at all given the CAS 19 timings.

 Passmark Performance Test – Memory Mark – Threaded

Patriot’s Signature Line Premium lands right where it should along with other similar 2666 MHz rated kits.

SiSoft Sandra

“SiSoftware Sandra provides a robust package of diagnostic tools for testing your system and teasing out its problems–or potential headaches.”

SiSoft gives the Premium memory kit a bandwidth of around 24.7 GB/s in all three test segments.

Super Pi Modded 1.5

“In August 1995, the calculation of pi up to 4,294,960,000 decimal digits was succeeded by using a supercomputer at the University of Tokyo. The program was written by D.Takahashi in collaboration with Dr.Y.Kanada at the computer center. This record should be the current world record. (Details are shown in the windows help.) This record-breaking program was ported to personal computer environments such as Windows NT and Windows 95. In order to calculate 33.55 million digits, it takes within 3 days with a Pentium 90 MHz, 40 MB main memory and 340 MB available storage.”

Despite the non-overclocking speeds and fairly loose timings, Patriot climbs up the chart here with decent performance ahead of faster and more expensive kits.

7-Zip

“This form allows you to measure the performance of your computer. The benchmark shows a rating in MIPS (million instructions per second). The rating value is calculated from the measured speed, and it is normalized with results of Intel Core 2 CPU with multi-threading option switched off. So, if you have modern CPU from Intel or AMD, rating values in single-thread mode must be close to real CPU frequency. There are two tests, compression with LZMA method and decompression with LZMA method. Once the total passes reach 20, the score is taken.”

Patriot again climbs the charts unexpectedly here and exhibits solid performance a little out of its class.

Final Thoughts & Conclusion

Patriot’s Signature Line Premium provides subtle good looks and premium performance at budget level pricing. While we do have the newest AMD Ryzen systems supporting DDR4-3200MHz by default with no overclocking, the vast majority of non-overclocking systems in the wild today will be quite happy with the 2666MHz speed. We were able to get to a modest 3000MHz at 1.35V at 16-18-18-38 timings, but this kit really isn’t designed for overclocking.  For everyone else, especially those who despise the current RGB fad, Patriots Signature line Premium provides great bang for your buck.
