URF Tier List – League of Legends

Published

on

Ultra Rapid Fire aka URF,  the most fun, craziest, and limited-time event mode in the world-renowned MOBA League of Legends (LoL), has made its comeback again.  And with that, it is high time for us to have a URF Tier List!

This article will rank URF’s champions from the most powerful picks that never fail to stand above the rest, down to the least viable ones.

This is a major update. We added new sections for the strongest and weakest champions. We also added a section for games updates and FAQs.

LoL’s developer Riot Games started the year with a bang by teasing the 115 million monthly active players of the game with the return of URF in its rotating game mode.

URF is a featured game mode in LoL that was initially introduced as an April Fools’ Event in 2014. It’s a game mode that is known for its lack of mana restrictions and highly-reduced abilities’ cooldown, allowing players to spam their champions’ skills. Since then, URF has become a staple in LoL’s game events and became one of the all-time favorite game modes in LoL. With its popularity, it has undergone several updates and changes. And that, in LoL’s patch 11.19 update, developers have introduced new URF features that will improve the overall gaming experience. FUN RIGHT?

Dig in for more updates!

Now that you are all caught up with the latest updates about one of the most anticipated game modes in LoL, let’s get a move and zoom in on some of the most powerful champions you can play through our URF Tier List.

URF TIER LIST

URF features an impressive roster of champions that players can choose from, popular for its lack of mana restrictions and cooldown reduction on abilities. But as with all game characters, URF champions are not created equal. Some stand out and rise above the rest, simply because they are that good–these are the ones that belong to the S Tier. Champions that fall short of this standard belong to the A Tier. While champions who are powerful enough to be above average but not so much to become great alternatives are included in the B Tier. Then, champions that are effective in only certain situations are grouped under C Tier. And lastly, the least viable ones belong to D Tier. After taking the Kill-Death-Assist (KDA) ratio, win rates, and pick rates into consideration, here’s our URF Tier List.

URF TIER LIST: BEST AND WORST CHAMPIONS

URF TIER LIST: BEST CHAMPION PICK

ZED

Primary Class: Assassin
Secondary Class: –

What we think of this champion:

Zed is one of the most OP champions in URF, which may be a good or bad thing, depending on your playstyle. With Zed’s Living Shadow ability, he can jump constantly from one shadow to another, making it hard for opponents to keep track of you. Be careful not to be confused though, when used wisely, this skill can help your assassinations easier. His skills are insanely strong, and once mastered, you could do a whole range of different plays with it.

Champion’s Lore:

The Master of Shadow

“Utterly ruthless and without mercy, Zed is the leader of the Order of Shadow, an organization he created with the intent of militarizing Ionia’s magical and martial traditions to drive out Noxian invaders. During the war, desperation led him to unlock the secret shadow form—malevolent spirit magic as dangerous and corrupting as it is powerful. Zed has mastered all of these forbidden techniques to destroy anything he sees as a threat to his nation or his new order.”

Champion’s Abilities:
  • Contempt for the Weak (Passive)
Zed’s basic attacks deal 6/8/10% of the target’s maximum health (depending on level) if the target is below their 50% maximum health.
  • Razor Shuriken (Q)
Shurikens that Zed and his shadows throw will deal physical damage to all enemies they pass through but are reduced to 60% beyond the first hit.
  • Living Shadow (W)
Zed’s shadow will dash forward and will remain in place for a few seconds. Reactivating this ability will make Zed switch places with his shadow. The shadow will also mimic Zed’s basic abilities. If both Zed and the shadow strike the same target, Zed will regain some energy.
  • Death Mark (R)
Other champions will not be able to target Zed, and Zed will dash to his target energy and marks the target for death. A living shadow will then spawn, and mimics Zed’s abilities.  After a few seconds, the mark will detonate, dealing physical damage equal to 100% of Zed’s attack damage, including any damage dealt by Zed and his shadow while the mark was active.
  • Shadow Slash (E)
Zed and his shadow/s will create a shadow burst, which can physically damage nearby enemies.

URF TIER LIST:Worst Champion Pick

SION

Primary Class: Tank
Secondary Class: Fighter

What we think of this champion:

Sion’s legacy class is a Tank and is usually a Top Laner since he can shrug off damage easily. As a tank, he can also deal a huge load of damage towards opponents. But his weakness lies in his dependence on your team; he is not someone you can rely on to solo-carry a game as easily as you can with other champions.

Champion’s Lore:

The Undead Juggernaut

“A war hero from a bygone era, Sion was revered in Noxus for choking the life out of a Demacian king with his bare hands—but, denied oblivion, he was resurrected to serve his empire even in death. His indiscriminate slaughter claimed all who stood in his way, regardless of allegiance, proving he no longer retained his former humanity. Even so, with crude armor bolted onto rotten flesh, Sion continues to charge into battle with reckless abandon, struggling to remember his true self between the swings of his mighty ax.”

Champion’s Abilities:
  • Glory in Death (Passive)
Sion will briefly become invulnerable upon taking fatal damage. He then enters a frenzy and begins restoring himself.
  • Decimating Smash (Q)
Sion smashes his axe into the ground to deal damage into an area in front of himself to knock off enemies which slows them down – the amount of damage depends on the channel time.
  • Soul Furnace (W)
This passive skill allows Sion to permanently gain 4 bonus health whenever he kills a unit. The bonus is increased to 15 if he kills a large unit or has champion kills and assists.
  • Unstoppable Onslaught (R)
Sion charges into a target direction for up to 8 seconds; he will not be able to attack or use any abilities, but he will be immune to all crowd control effects.

If he collides with an enemy or terrain, he will slam to the ground with a strong force, dealing damage to nearby enemies.

  • Roar of the Slayer (E)
Sion bellows in the target direction, and deals magic damage to the first enemy it hits; slowing it down and reducing its armour for a couple of seconds.

URF: GAME UPDATES!

The rumored changes for this year’s URF include +300 ability haste, the availability of Lethal Tempo and Ultimate Hunter, bonus mana being converted to HP at 40% rate, and bonus mana regen being converted to HP at 100% rate. Additionally, principal tech designer Reina “Reinboom” Sweet also tweeted how the next run of URF will “embrace the preseason item rework.” This will let players engage with the item system in URF, free of the fear of falling into traps that can undermine their gameplay.

In Patch 11.19, the notable tweaks for URF focused on balance resets–this means some champions have either gotten character buffs (+damage dealt and -damage take) or nerfs (-damage dealt and +damage taken). The developers also made some adjustments in URF’s shielding–from a 50% ratio reduction to 30% overall. Additionally, Lane Minions will have slightly lower gold values to realign them to Summoner’s Rift’s (SR) values.
