Smite Tier List

on

We are showcasing our Smite Tier List in this article.

If you are getting into Smite, then we are sorry for you. Do you even understand what you are getting into? Smite is a demanding competitive game with the style of Multiplayer Online Battleground Arena or MOBA. This style, starting from the famous DOTA mod of Warcraft 3, has been famous for its addictive gameplay combined with an ocean’s worth of salt. The players are very competitive and if you want to survive in this jungle you need to know your stuff.

This is where this tier list comes in: we have ranked all the characters from best to worst so that you can understand where you should focus your skills. Some characters are, by default, overpowered (at least at the current meta of the game) . If you want to win and climb the ranks of this demanding game then you better do your homework quickly!

SMITE TIER LIST

Smite Tier List: S-Tier

On the top, we find the gods that are… literally gods in the game. Bad pun aside, these characters are where the meta is focused right now. You have to be blind not to see that they dominate the pace of the game they are in. The professionals are favoring these gods, which means that you’re already at an advantage by picking them. Of course, there is a skill cap that you have to match in order to play them effectively.

  • Set
  • Yemoja
  • Cthulhu
  • Heimdallr
  • Kukulkan
  • Odin
  • Olorun
  • Tsukuyomi

Smite Tier List: A-Tier

If all gods are overpowered, then no one is. This is what we say to justify that A-Tier gods are not as strong as S-Tier. Of course, they are some of the best characters you can pick—especially if you put the time into mastering their skills—, and you can climb the ranks pretty easily with them. It will prove useful to learn to play some gods from this Tier since they can surprise your opponents and create amazing synergies with your team.

  • Janus
  • Merlin
  • Raijin
  • Ullr
  • Ah Puch
  • Hera
  • Bakasura
  • Ratatoskr
  • Susano
  • Athena
  • Bastet
  • Thor
  • King Arthur
  • Isis
  • Ao Kuang
  • Jing Wei
  • Tyr
  • Agni

Smite Tier List: B-Tier

Leading this list we have one of our personal favorite gods, Hou Yi. Just to prove that we are impartial, we didn’t place him in the S-Tier (even though for us he deserves it) because he simply can’t compete up there.

The B-Tier characters are a bit above the average gods, but not by a lot. There are still top-ranked players that prefer them, so if you have sufficient skill, then you can make them work. Note that it just takes a little bit more time than when playing with higher-tier gods.

  • Hou Yi
  • Xbalanque
  • Terra
  • Cerberus
  • Kumbhakarna
  • Vamana
  • Ganesha
  • Ne Zha
  • Zhong Kui
  • Baron Samedi
  • Artio
  • Chiron
  • Da Ji
  • Discordia
  • Erlang Shen
  • Persephone
  • Ares
  • Zeus
  • Hercules
  • Cu Chulainn
  • Rama
  • Geb
  • Pele
  • Thoth
  • Vulcan
  • Chang’e
  • Kuzenbo
  • Fenrir
  • Ravana

Smite Tier List: C-Tier

Picking a team that is full of C-Tier gods is not exactly what you would call crazy, but it’s getting close to it. Many gods can do what C-Tier gods do but better, so it doesn’t make sense to pick only C-Tiers. One or maybe even two can go unpunished, but more than that is like you don’t want to win.

  • Anhur
  • Sylvanus
  • He Bo
  • Sol
  • Chronos
  • Cupid
  • Neith
  • Cernunnos
  • The Morrigan
  • Achilles
  • Scylla
  • Serqet
  • Aphrodite
  • Horus
  • Ra
  • Medusa
  • Hun Batz
  • Mercury
  • Bellona
  • Hachiman
  • Khepri
  • Nemesis
  • Izanami

Smite Tier List: D-Tier

Some of these characters were once much higher on this list (like Apollo) but taking into account the current meta of the game, they are not what you would consider the best choices.

On the other hand, some gods on this list never even managed to get some glory (shout out to Ymir) and are just your below-average gods.

  • Apollo
  • Fafnir
  • Nox
  • Chaac
  • Artemis
  • Jormungandr
  • Bacchus
  • Sun Wukong
  • Sobek
  • Chernobog
  • Nu Wa
  • Skadi
  • Kali
  • Hades
  • Awilix
  • Xing Tian
  • Ymir
  • Amaterasu
  • Thanatos
  • Guan Yu
  • Camazotz

LOL-Tier

It’s time for the characters that no one wants to talk about. Please, it is imperative that you do NOT pick these gods. They have nothing to offer to the team and they usually suffer at the hands of most players. Pretend you don’t even know these gods.

  • Osiris
  • Anubis
  • Cabrakan
  • Arachne
  • Ah Muzen Cab
  • Nike
  • Poseidon
  • Hel
  • Loki

Who is the strongest character in Smite?

SET

MAX STATS

Health435 (+75)
Mana210 (+38)
Speed375 (+0)
Range12 (+0)
Attack / Sec1 (+1.9%)
Damage39 (+ 2.3)

+ 100% of Physical Power

DefensePhysical: 13 (+2.9)

Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen

HP5: 9 (+0.7)
MP5: 4.2 (+0.38)

*Numbers in parentheses are the amount gained at each level

Even though Set is not our favorite god to grind the ranks with, we have to give him the credit of being the most fearsome opponent. By that, we mean that he is the strongest god in Smite. You can clearly see that if you check his pick rate in the highest rankings. With his seemingly endless clones, it looks like there is no solution when playing against a skilled set. Tanks do nothing to him, and every carry or support can fall prey to him in a matter of seconds. Truly a beast.

ABILITIES

PassiveRelentless

Set gains a stack of relentless for every damage dealt to an enemy (max of 10 for every 6s). Each stack increases Set’s attack speed by 25%.

If ultimate ability is active, Relentless will have no maximum stack count.

1st AbilitySkewer

An attack that Set throws forward. Enemies caught in the attack’s path are dealt damage and will be slowed for 3s.

Set will also spawn, and the spawn can be directed to a location that Set will determine. The spawn can deal the same effect.

2nd AbilitySpawn of Set

With this ability, Set can conjure up to 8 stationary spawn of himself to attack nearby enemies.

While active, Set can command these spawns with his other abilities, or teleport to their locations.

3rd AbilitySandstorm
Set creates a sandstorm around him which can protect him from physical damage and speed debuffs.Enemies near the sandstorm can have their vision obscured, and also be dealt with damage. While using this ability, Set can teleport once. If used when targeting a spawn, Set will teleport to its location immediately.
Ultimate AbilityKingslayer

With Kingslayer, Set gains increased movement at 25%. Each time an enemy is hit, they get a Mark of Set, if it reaches 4 marks, it will cause an eruption, sending bursts of damage to the enemy. On the other hand, Set regains health and immediately charges Spawn of Set ability.

The Best Hero in Each Role

As you should know, there are 5 different roles in Smite that define how you are going to play the game. These roles are Support, ADC (Attack-Damage-Carry), Mid Laner, Solo Laner and Jungler.

There are always arguments about which role is more important in the game, but we are here to tell you that none of them is more important than the other. If any of these roles is not part of your line-up, then you are going to have a difficult game.

Now let’s jump to our picks.

The Best Support: YEMOJA

MAX STATS

Health490 (+95)
Mana0(+0)
Speed365 (+0)
Range55 (+0)
Attack / Sec1 (+1.2%)
Damage34 (+ 1.5)

+ 20% of Magical Power

DefensePhysical: 19 (+3)

Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen

*5 means per 5 seconds

HP5: 6 (+0.7)
MP5: 0 (+0)

*Numbers in parentheses are the amount gained at each level

We believe that the best support in the game is Yemoja. Between her abilities that do not require mana, and each ability offering something extra, Yemoja does have a high skill ceiling. This god will be a win or lose factor for your team. A large part of this god’s kit is set up, and sustains for your team.

ABILITIES

PassiveOmi
By using Omi, Yemoja casts spells instead of Mana. Her Mana, MP5, and Mana heals are all applied to her health pool.
1st AbilityBouncing Bubble / Moonstrike

Yemoja can create a bubble that bounces to deal damage to enemies and slows them down. The first bounce hits 30% damage, it will then explode to smaller bubbles and hit 50% to enemies that were hit by the first bounce.

Moonstrike on the other hand allows Yemoja to summon the Moon and deal damage to the enemies on the area below it.

2nd AbilityMending Waters
Using this ability, Yemoja can send out a wave of water that can deal damage to enemies and their shield that it will pass through.  If the wave hits an ally, it will bounce to all nearby allies and give healing effect and protection for 3s.
3rd AbilityRiptide
Riptide creates a water ring that blows away and slows down enemies that try to enter it. If allies enter the ring, they gain speed buff and protection for 3s.
Ultimate AbilityRiver’s Rebuke

With this ability, Yemoja creates two massive walls of water which can block enemies’ movement and projectiles. Once the water falls down, enemies hit by the water will be damaged and slowed down.

Yemoja can also gain Omi regeneration buff if she stays in the river field that lingers after using this ability.

The Best ADC: OLORUN

MAX STATS

Health450 (+75)
Mana240 (+58)
Speed370 (+0)
Range55 (+0)
Attack / Sec1.05 (+1.5%)
Damage40 (+ 2.38)

+ 25% of Magical Power

DefensePhysical: 13 (+3)

Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen

*5 means per 5 seconds

HP5: 7 (+0.45)
MP5: 5 (+0.4)

*Numbers in parentheses are the amount gained at each level

If you have played Olorun, then you know why he is one of the most powerful ADCs in the game. He can deal huge criticals even though he is a magic damage dealer thanks to his passive. His Focus Light is a great harassing and wave clearing ability, while his ultimate Sanctified Field is one of the most powerful ultimates in the game.

ABILITIES

PassiveTouch of Fate

Olorun can gain 15% Critical Hit chance (1% per 10% Magical Power from items) after reaching 150 Magical Power.

Olorun also gets a buff, 5% extra scaling on his basic attacks.

1st AbilityFocused Light
Olorun charges an orb of energy for up to 2s and then fires it in front of him. Longer charge determines how far the projectile can go; all enemies it will pass through will be dealt damage. This ability can deal Critical Hits and provide stacks of Overflowing Divinity to Olorun.
2nd AbilityOverflowing Divinity
This ability grants Olorun amplified Attack Speed (40%). This also allows him to conjure the Sun which deals damage to nearby Enemies. The Sun also throws projectiles which can hit the enemy, every hit deals 20% less damage.
3rd AbilityConsecration

Olorun shoots out a light that knocks back enemies, dealing them damage and slowing them down.

This ability also casts healing to Olorun and all allies that are bathed in light. Olorun gains Physical and Magical protections from every ally healed.

Ultimate AbilitySanctified Field

In this ability, Olorun summons Olodumare and Olofi which creates an area of divine energy that distorts the flow of time within. Enemies caught within the divine energy suffer negatively by being slowed down, on the other hand Olorun is affected positively, gaining buffs.

The Best Solo: SET*

*Refer to his stats and abilities in Who is the strongest character in Smite? Section of this article

Set is arguably the best god in the game currently so naturally he is the best character for the Solo role. The only problem is that he does come with high risk and high reward with his high skill cap being quite high and it requires a lot of understanding of his mechanics. As set would say, “with chaos and strife, the strong survive” now wreak havoc on those Kings and slay and skewer them.

The Best Mid Laner: KUKULKAN

MAX STATS

Health380 (+75)
Mana265 (+38)
Speed360 (+0)
Range55 (+0)
Attack / Sec0.87 (+0.91%)
Damage39 (+ 1.45)

+ 20% of Magical Power

DefensePhysical: 13 (+3)

Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen

*5 means per 5 seconds

HP5: 7 (+0.46)
MP5: 5 (+0.45)

*Numbers in parentheses are the amount gained at each level

One of our personal favorites happens to be the best mid laner in the game: Kukulkan is an incredible hero in this patch that can deal high area damage, is very strong in the lane with his ability to poke at the enemy and has a godly ultimate that can almost one shot people. If you manage to get a grip of his toolkit, you are going to have a lot of easy wins in your future.

ABILITIES

PassivePower of the Wind Jewel
This ability increases Kukulkan’s magical power by 4% of its maximum Mana.
1st AbilityZephyr

With Zephyr, Kukulkan can fire a projectile breath attack that can deal damage to enemies that are in its path. All nearby enemies near the impact will be slowed down.

2nd AbilitySlipstream

Kukulkan gains speed boost up to 80% by channeling the wind; the boost scales down gradually over 4s duration.

While using this ability, Kukulkan is immune to Slows for 6s.

3rd AbilityWhirlwind

Kukulkan can summon a tornado at his target location. Enemies within 20 radius will be damaged every .5s for 2.5s for a maximum of 12 ticks.

Ultimate AbilitySpirit of the Nine Winds

With this ability, Kukulkan summons Spirit of the Nine Winds which deals damage to all enemies in front of him (range of 130), and knocks them back to the side.

The Best Jungler: TSUKUYOMI

MAX STATS

Health455 (+78)
Mana205 (+35)
Speed375 (+0)
Range12 (+0)
Attack / Sec1 (+1.3%)
Damage35 (+ 2.4)

+ 100% of Physical Power

DefensePhysical: 13 (+2.8)

Magical: 30 (+0.9)

Regen

*5 means per 5 seconds

HP5: 8 (+0.68)
MP5: 4.5 (+0.46)

*Numbers in parentheses are the amount gained at each level

Tsukuyomi‘s play style since he is an assassin is to poke characters from a distance with his attacks and then get close to them to finish the job. Of course, he can jump the back lines to destroy the more squishy supports and ADC, but he lacks the mobility to escape, so if this is what you are going for, you should be careful not to overextend.

ABILITIES

PassiveShingetsu & Mangetsu

Every time these weapons damage an enemy, they become empowered. Shingetsu gains 50% cleave and restores Tsukuyomi’s Mana; Mangetsu can deal bonus damage and restore Tsukuyomi’s Health.

1st AbilityDark Moon Shuriken

Shingetsu summons a Dark Moon Shuriken, which damages an enemy and sticks into them. Tsukuyomi can then retrieve the shuriken and reduces the ability’s cooldown.

This attack also steals movement speed from the enemy, and add it onto Tsukuyomi’s speed.

2nd AbilityKusarigama
Shingetsu & Mangetsu join to form a Kusarigama, a weapon that Tsukuyomi then swings left and right to damage and disarm enemies.
3rd AbilitySilver Moon Caltrops

Mangetsu erupts into starlight which sends down stars to the ground. They become Caltrops once they hit the ground, and will damage and slow down enemies.

Ultimate AbilityPiercing Moonlight

Tsukuyomi gains Crowd Control immunity and 20% damage reduction using the power of Full Moon.

He can also fire 4 powerful beams of moonlight which damage and mark enemies that it hits. After this, Tsukuyomi dashes forward and hits all marked enemies. If he kills an enemy with this, he will gain both its ranged basic attacks.

How We Ranked The Gods

The Meta

What we took into account while making this list, is what is the state of the meta right now in Smite. It might seem like a simple question but as you know the Meta is something elusive. It always changes and you need to study a lot to comply with it. The state of the meta of Smite for this patch is still early pressure and trying to snowball whatever tiny lead you can get. If the enemy builds crit then Spectra basically takes them out of the game. Fail Not was also effectively taken out of the game along with Death’s Toll so hunter builds got a bit nerfed.

We are all waiting for patch 8.3 with the great changes that it’s going to bring to the game.

The Best Tip For New Players

USE WARDS

Maybe you haven’t played any other MOBA games, maybe you have. It seems that no matter how much we repeat this advice, it is never enough. We know it doesn’t feel good when you spend gold on something that is not going to increase your damage, but you have to fight this feeling. Wards are going to give you a significant advantage in the game. It’s like having a wallhack in a FPS game. You even start with a free ward. If you put them in the correct locations you will start noticing that games are becoming much easier, and you are not getting ganked as much as before. You will thank us and your team will thank you.

Conclusion

All of the MOBA games are famous for being extremely hard and competitive. If you want to have a chance, then you need to know what you are picking. Of course, it doesn’t matter if you pick the best gods all the time if you don’t put in the hours. You better have a lot of free time if you are planning to get high in the ranks.

Also, most importantly, even if you studied our Smite Tier List, you better have the mental fortitude of a Shaolin monk to be able to come out of this experience unharmed. Even then, it is questionable if you can do it.
