While most people just slap some fans on their CPU, others like to custom build their PCs and add some rather strange cooling systems. Lately, we’ve seen plenty of liquid coolers like the ones from Corsair, Thermaltake, and so on, but we bet you have never seen the cooling systems we have added in our list below.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 crazy cooling systems created by dedicated PC experts, or just enthusiast users over the past few years.

5. The Irn Bru PC

What’s best for a Scottish PC user than an entire PC built with “Irn-Bru liquid cooling system”? John Lawson, who is an Edinburgh computer expert, and his colleagues built this computer system and used a 750ml Irn Bru glass bottle along with flowing tubes to create this unique cooling system.

Thankfully, the liquid he used was just orange cooling liquid. It took the founder of PC Doctor a year to get all the parts he needed to build this PC back in 2015.

Next, we have a (silent) beast of a cooling system.

4. The 0 DB Game Developer PC

In a lengthy Instructables post by user ghmk, we saw how he was able to build a powerful and silent system. Being a PC game developer, he needed great cooling, so he used an old aluminum server case, to which he added four car radiator units, each housing 8 silent fans.

He used 14 liters of water to keep his PC quiet and at a stable 25 degrees Celsius. It’s weird, but add some steampunk accents to it and you have a piece of art as well!

Talking about art, the next guy mounted his entire PC on the wall and it looks amazing.

3. MAXXPlanck V2 – the “Ultimate Wall Mount Rig”

Four weeks of work were totally worth it for this beautiful wall mount water cooler rig. User Show4Pro shared his finished project on Overclock after he decided to update his PC.

Not only is this PC getting water cooling, but all those parts are easily getting enough ventilation considering they’re in the open air. That build was made back in 2013 and has inspired many PC users to create their own wall-mounted rigs.

2. Mineral Oil Submerged PC Build – Linus Tech Tips

Why not just submerge the entire PC in mineral oil? Pouring liquids over PC components will certainly make you wince but don’t worry, these guys are pros.

If there’s one man who can build PCs, it’s Linus Sebastian, Linus Tech Tips founder. He shared the entire building process on his YouTube channel (videos linked here), and he even had a Q&A and a maintenance vlog for whoever would be brave enough to replicate this rig.
