Although the action sequences in this anime are good, watching Cocona and Pipika’s relationship slowly develop is magical.

23. Higurashi: When They Cry SOTSU

Higurashi: When They Cry SOTSU is all about Rika and Satoko, two best friends who have lived in the same village their whole lives.

However, as they start getting older, Rika becomes determined to chase after her dreams, but only with Satoko by her side.

Unfortunately, Satoko is much more hesitant, and a rift begins to form between them, leaving Satoko more and more isolated.

Longing for things to go back to the way they were, Sotoko is met by a supernatural entity who makes her reevaluate her feelings for Rika.

With a newfound purpose, Satoko sets off to forge the future she wants, no matter what it takes.

22. Dear Brother

When Nanako starts attending a prestigious all-girls academy, she has high hopes; however, they are quickly dashed by lies and jealousy.

Out of place, Nanako recalls the days when she’d write to her teacher, who she’d affectionately call Big Brother.

Fortunately, Nanako does have some friends to lean on, including her childhood friend, Tomoko, and the athletic Kaoru.

There are a lot of feelings going on in this anime, but at its heart, it is a drama about the impact of bullying.

You can’t help but feel for Nanako as she endures a number of cruel and unnecessary trials put on her by the other girls.

21. Grand Blue Dreaming

Grand Blue Dreaming can easily be considered one of the best comedy anime series, but it also has a lot of Yuri elements.

While it mainly follows the life of Iori, a teenage boy who travels to a coastal city for college, where he stays at his cousin’s scuba diving shop.

While the girls are happy to have someone from the big city join their group, Hotaru quickly becomes obsessed with one of them.

A small, adorable girl named Komari has caught her eye, and now Hotaru will do anything to spend time alone with her.

The Otherworld is a very dangerous place, which Sorawo learns rather quickly after an encounter with one of its denizens.

Basically, the Otherworld is where creepypastas and dark urban legends go to die, and it definitely is a terrifying place.

However, after being saved from her encounter by Nishina Toriko, the pair venture back into the hellish place to try and save someone else.

When she crosses paths with Mariya Shidou, Kanako thinks she may have just found the one, but there is much more to Mariya than meets the eye.

You see, Mariya is actually a cross-dressing boy who threatens to expose Kanako’s sexuality unless she keeps his true gender under wraps.

Things spiral from there, but the whole series is worth a watch for all of the hilarity that ensues!

This Yuri anime follows Kureha Tsubaki and Sumika Izumino, two lovers attending Arashigaoka Academy.

Things are going great until Ginko and Lulu, two humanoid bears, show up and start taking a real liking to Kureha.

Unfortunately, by getting close to Kureha, Ginko, and Lulu unwittingly trigger a mystery of epic proportions.

This forces the girls to stand on trial to defend their love while also undergoing a journey of deep self-discovery.

15. Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid

This Yuri anime features one of the best anime dragon girls of all time, and it is well worth a watch.

Kobayashi is a diligent employee who stumbles upon the wounded dragon Tohru while walking home from work.

After saving her, they become besties, and Kobayashi allows Tohru to be her maid, though it quickly becomes clear Tohru is obsessed.

Candy Boy takes Yuri anime to a whole new level with the story of twins Kanade and Yukino.

Despite being related by blood, they can’t help but have feelings for each other, though things take a turn when another girl shows up.

When Yukino starts hanging out with Sakuya, Kanade starts to grow distant from her sister, though things aren’t as they appear.

Although relationships in the family aren’t for everyone, this anime manages to get you invested and keep you watching until the end.

13. Scum’s Wish

This story revolves around high school students Hanabi and Mugi and the things they do after falling for their teachers and getting rejected.

The pair now try to satiate their lust with one another, though they agree not to fall in love and end things if one of them finds someone else.

Strawberry Panic follows Nagisa Aoi after she joins an all-girls school and meets a charming and mysterious fellow student.

Unfortunately, those charms were so strong that Nagisa ends up in the infirmary, though things aren’t all bad.

Upon meeting the beauty she saw before, Shizuma Hanazono, Nagisa is stunned to find out that the mysterious girl is quite interested in her as well!

8. Revolutionary Girl Utena

Revolutionary Girl Utena tells the story of Utena, a — you guessed it — transfer student at Ohtori Academy.

A mysterious girl, Utena, dreams of becoming a prince, and she quickly finds out who she wants to be her princess.

With her heart set on Anthy Himemiya, Utena decides to compete for her in the school’s dueling tournament.

Unfortunately, things aren’t as straightforward as Utena would like, especially when her childhood friend shows up knowing her secrets!

7. WATATEN!: An Angel Flew Down To Me

Miyako Hoshino is a shy college girl, and she spends the majority of her time making cosplay outfits.

While Miyoko is one of the best brunette anime girls, things take a turn for her when her younger sister brings home a friend, Hana.

Immediately, Miyako is stunned by how cute Hana is, and she will do anything to be close to her.

This includes giving her candy and making her try on costumes that Miyako makes especially for her.

Yeah, this one is a bit on the loli side as well, but all-in-all, it is a cute story that has plenty of funny moments!

6. Citrus

Citrus is another Yuri anime that deals in sisterly love, only step-sisterly love this time around.

It revolves around Aihara Yuzu, who moves to a new neighborhood after her mother remarries a man with his own daughter.

Unfortunately for Aihara, her new step-sibling turns out to be the cold but beautiful student council president of her new school!

Now the two have to share a room, and while they initially can’t stand each other, as they learn more about the other, romantic feelings start developing!

This is a really sweet Yuri anime to watch, and it certainly gets to be very engaging as the episodes go by.

The Citrus manga series is also an amazing read if you love the anime and want more content!

When first-year high school student Adachi Sakura skips class, she ends up meeting Shimamura Hougetsu, another girl who’s also playing hooky.

Unfortunately, Shimamura only thinks of her as just a friend, or so she thinks, so Adachi struggles to express how she feels.

Akari Akaza, one of the best red-haired anime girls, spent a year in elementary school without her childhood friends after being held back.

Fortunately, she is finally reunited with Yui and Kyouko in high school, where they have already formed, what they call, the Fun Club.

After joining her friend’s new club, a new girl shows up, Chinatsu Yoshikawa, who thinks she has come to join the formerly disbanded Tea Club.

Now the girls have to persuade Chinatsu to join their Fun Club instead, which leads to a ton of shenanigans.

Basically, this is a slice-of-life anime that is filled with girls who fawn over each other, drink tea, and try to entertain themselves!

What do you do if you find out your neighbor is an adorable ageless vampire who looks like a doll and doesn’t kill people?

Well, if you’re Akari, you probably become absolutely enamored with them and want nothing more than to be best friends!

This anime is very cute, and it follows Akari Amano and Sophie Twilight as they move in together and learn about each other’s cultures.

MS. Vampire Who Lives in My Neighborhood is a wholesome good time, and it is definitely one of the best Yuri anime series to binge.

Yuzu is a perky fox girl who gets her first job as a maid at a traditional onsen hot spring in Konohantei.

Thanks to the help of the other fox girls around her, Yuzu quickly comes to learn her trade while also falling a bit in love.

Things heat up when she heads to high school and meets Touko, one of the best black-haired anime girls and the student council president.

After watching Touko turn down her own love confession, Yuu goes to her for advice but is stunned when Touko confesses having feelings for her!

Bloom Into You is a real treat to watch, and every moment makes you more invested in Yuu and Touko’s blossoming relationship.
