Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Game Information

Black ops 4 is the 15th installment of the Call of Duty series and the 4th in the Black-ops sub-series, following on from Black ops 3 in 2015.

Developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, the first-person shooter game is the first Call of Duty release to not have a single-player campaign mode. This has been replaced with solo missions that are based on the characters known as ‘Specialists’ in the multiplayer mode.

Black ops 4 also features a Battle Royale game known as ‘Blackout’, where up to 100 players drop in by helicopter and search for loot so that they can be the last man standing.

The popular ‘Zombies’ mode on the Call of Duty games by Treyarch continue on Black ops 4, which includes 3 new maps plus an extra one for special edition versions of the game.

Before its release, there was doubts over the game due to the lack of a campaign mode. However, Black ops 4 received positive reviews and was the best-selling digital launch in Activision’s history, overtaking Call of Duty: WWII.

Storyline

Multiplayer/Blackout is set in 2043 where during an undercover mission, a US army specialist named Jessica is deemed to have died while friends ‘Ruin’ and ‘Battery’ survive. Two years later, Jessica’s sister Savannah recruits ten elite soldiers including Ruin and Battery for a top-secret project.

Ruin is contacted by an individual who warned him when he survived the mission two years ago. Ruin confronts the individual, who turns out to be Jessica who is alive. Savannah is then deemed to try and eliminate the ten specialists she had hired.

Completing the solo missions reveal more stories behind the project, which seems to be resurrecting the dead. 4 individuals known as ‘archetypes’ were revived.

Zombies

Zombies on Black ops 4 has a wider range of customization options than other zombie modes on previous games, whilst also offering players to change the difficulty via many variables including zombie speed, health, damage etc.

A new game type called ‘Rush’ involves players competing for the highest number of points in a game until the eventually die.

As well as the classic zombie mode, Black ops 4 includes 2 storylines with the popular game-mode that can be completed:

Chaos Story:

When treasure hunter Alistair was kidnapped by a cult named ‘The Order’, his daughter Scarlett aims to find his father. The Order have possession of a Sentinel Artefact that turns people into zombies, that Scarlett and her allies look to track down whilst also looking for Alistair.

Aether Story:

The Primus crew find themselves constantly living through past versions of them over and over.

One member named ‘Richtofen’ finds himself trapped when the ‘Shadow Man’ creates a purgatory pocket dimension. The crew have to face many obstacles to escape the Alcatraz Island but ultimately survive battles against zombies and their past selves.

Is there a Co-op/Multiplayer mode?

Blacks op 4 focuses on its Multiplayer features more than its single-player mode. The 10 specialists mentioned in the story can be used which bring their own strengths and abilities.

The game has removed its automatic healing ability in its multiplayer mode (where Call of Duty: WWII removed it from its single-player campaign). Healing won’t automatically occur once you’ve been hit, with an aim for players to adapt a more cautious style of play.
