The Last of Us Part II

The Last of Us Part II is the must-needed sequel to the original game which was released in 2013. We’ve waited 7 years to see a follow up to the story, and now the time is almost here.

The game is an action-adventure horror style game developed by Naughty Dog, and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The story follows 19 year old Ellie, who comes across a mysterious cult in a post-apocalyptic America.

The original game in the series become one of the most popular games of all time, selling over 1.3 million copies in its first week following release.

The Storyline

Players control Ellie, who’s now on her own after Joel’s disappearance. However, it’s likely we’ll see a return of Joel, and Naughty Dog have confirmed that Part II’s story will be complimentary to the first instalment in the series.

You’ll have access to various firearms, improvised weapons, and stealth; to defend yourself against a combination of hostile humans and cannibal-like monsters infected by a mutated-strain of the Cordyceps fungus.

Players will be able to jump, climb and crawl their way across the world to either evade hostiles, or reach a better vantage point, before deciding how to handle each situation.

“Listen Mode” is also confirmed for Part II of the series; wherein you’re able to use a heightened sense of hearing and awareness to locate enemies through various walls and objects.

Now then, a game wouldn’t be complete without its list of upgrades, and with The Last of Us Part II, you’ll have your fair share. Players are given a skill tree with three main branches:

• Survival (health, listen mode, throwing)
• Crafting (melee weapons, craft speed, bombs)
• Stealth (prone speed, faster stealth skills, silenced weapons)

You’ll be able to collect supplements in order to upgrade each branch.

Part II is set to be a much larger story than the initial game, and it should help paint a much larger picture, according to Naughty Dog:

“Part 2 is saying this is going to be a larger story; it’s going to be a complementary story to the first game, but together, the two combined are going to tell this much larger tale.”

What about Future DLC Content?

There isn’t any DLC confirmed for Part II, but there are rumors that Naughty Dog are planning something; whether it’s in the way of a DLC expansion, or a separate spin-off game, is unknown.

Will There Be A Co-Op/Multiplayer?

In an interview at EA 2018, Naughty Dog originally stated that the game would include a multiplayer option. However, throughout the game’s development, they decided not to include any type of multiplayer. Which means The Last of Us Part II will strictly focus on the single player story.

Which Platforms Will The Last of Us Part II Be Released on?

The Last of Us Part II is a Sony PlayStation exclusive, just like the original game in the series. For all the Xbox fans out there; sorry folks, you’ll need a PlayStation if you’re excited to play this game.

When Will The Last of Us Part II Be Released?

The Last of Us Part II is set to release on the 29th May, 2020, for PlayStation 4. It’s one highly anticipated game that wasn’t pushed back this year, after the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, Watch Dogs: Legion, and Dying Light 2 all had their release dates moved to the later part of the year.
